Trump's Tariff Czar Lutnick
This is a story of the tragic fate of traders working at Cantor Fitzgerald on the day when everything changed. Tale as well of their families in the wake of 9/11. A tragedy for Howard Lutnick, company head who was dropping kids off at school when the World Trade Center Towers were attacked. This video showed how he stumbled but eventually created a fund for victims' families. It also points out the re-birth of the company, which deals with bonds, and which mostly profits during times of high volatility. If the second Trump Administration is not a hotbed of volatility, I will eat my hat. If this is not sauce for a bond trader, I'd be surprised. True, Howard has left the company - also true he has placed his descendants in charge. Should we like volatility in the markets? Depends on your point of view. A retiree: Maybe not. That thought arises after watching this video, though I'd wager we also must feel strong sympathy for Lutnick and the Cantor Fitzgerald family. But it seems right as rain to say Trump and Lutnick find opportunity in volatility, and maybe less concerned with day-to-day pain involved for the economy and the nation, in search of their larger goals. -Baruch Bernard.
