Beau Luminarie at Keenland Allowance

#2 Beau Luminarie (5-2) was our choice in the 6th at Keenland Sat Oct 23. The $60k Optional Allowance run in two fleets is a welcome step down for Beau, which has been showing good form among good company. Has regularly hit the board in his career. Hedged a bit by combining in exactas with Chad Brown’s also-consistent #4 Mystic Night. The pace I guessed at was Beau stalking Mystic, CandyTycoon and Bourbon Calling, with Beau having plenty left in tank at end at this distance.

In the race's running, Beau came up at the very last to beat Bourbon Calling horse of Ian Wilkes. Mystic Night came in 4th and the chart says "lacked a true response, and only managed to chase between
horses (not what we expect form a Chad Brown horse - yet it happens probably 3 out of 5 times in these circumstances.)

Much depends on the pace and the jock in this 7-furlonger, Chris Landeros, read things well. He admirably handled the horse on the final turn where the horse was taken somewhat wide, found some rough ground for footing, and needed to be well handled to get back on track to nip Bourbon at the wire.
