Dreams of Tomorow
The fifth race at Belmont on Saturday May 15 is a one mile event on the turf with six contestants. This is an entry-level allowance race for the purse of $92,000 score. The horses are evenly matched, and no long long shots really emerge.
Good trainers mark the entire slate. In terms of the way Equibase suggests the pace will transpire, it seems a a good chance that Voodoo Zip could take the lead, while others could go with him, he seems to have the potential to take the lead and run with it, the bettors seem to conclude. Arham, a Pletcher horse is an unknown factor, having never run on the turf. In pre-race run up Richard Migliore said the horse has the kind of hooves that make him a turf contender. On the outside is Lonesome Fugitive. This is the first outing this year for the horse, he made a strong move at end of last ( a race where he had some trouble on the hedge), how he will perform off the layoff marking yet another unknown factor – but often Chad Brown horses are ready under such conditions.

Richard Migliore favors Dreams of Tomorrow. Jonathan Kitchen, Red Storm Risen. Both assign this a tough betting group.
To me the best choice to win is Dreams of Tomorrow (#5), tho I am ready to play Lonesome Fugitive as well in part for his mystery upside. (sounds like one Merle Haggard would go with) And my best choice is rewarding.
The gates open, and Voodo Zip seems to hold back. The first quarter is 22 and 2/5 seconds, as Arham vies with Tio Magico and Rejected Again. Then Dreams of Tomorrow settles in to make a sustained long strong move, to pull forward and win impressively by 4 lengths. 7-2 as second choice: seems rich after the running. Lonesome Fugitive needs one, it seems.
Among the analyst I like is Richard Migliore, who I remember from his days as a rider. Very insightful, and at time poetic too. As in his comments on Dream of Tomorrow as the horses reach the gate.
One horse maybe stands out just a little bit above everybody else. From a Hall of Fame trainer Chug McGahey - Dreams of Tomorrow. Consistent.
He's versatile he can show some speed he can lay close if need be. Chug’s horses are like those old-time paintings of thoroughbreds - the way he trains kind of lends them to - being in the pedigree of course, you know, the Phipps stable pedigrees - you know goes so deep. They had an old-time thoroughbred look.
I like the way they look with that longer leaner, more thoroughbred type look so I'm gonna go with the 5 Dreams of Tomorrow, guys, because in a group of really good looking horses, he might just be a little bit better looking than everybody else.
By the way. I focused on this race in lieu of the Preakness, at Pimlico, where the stewards allowed Medina Spirit to run. That horse finished 3rd, ending this phase of that drama, with Rombaeur the winner for Michael McCarthy and Flavien Prat, and Bourbon Something third for Steve Asmussen and Irad Ortiz. - B.B.
