Watch Attenborough retrospective v.1. It's on net til Jan 30. Amazing scenes eg of varied sea species splashing plunging feeding on schools of fish. It's like the Battle of Britain. V.1 is about advances in photography he has seen in his life and how that has effected our ability to observe animals. It is interesting to look at things from the point of view of tools. Invention of camera changed painting. invention of motion pictures changed poetry, drove abstraction. invention of telescope - well alot of things. Attenbough touches on move from film to tape, move to charge-coupled-devices, IR cameras (much from security industry!) and other elements. Bats in the caves are better known now.
