The Deracinated Cavalcade of Sports
May 18, 2018 - Basketball was a big thing at out high school, which was at about the time that Milwaukee got the Bucks. NBA bascketball, paricularly, has stayed with many of us through the subsequent years. I thought I'd visit this year's NBA finals with my friends via the miracle of Bluejean Network. Starting off here with Jim Haas. He has stopped playing competively, except he still does shoot baskets regularly, and if you shot one too, he'd get competive again, at least with you. We spoke on May 18, 2018 a day or so after the Hoston Rockets tied the West Coast Div Finals serieswith the Golden State Warriors, 1-1.
May 20, 2018 - In this edition of the NBA cavalcade sports feature final - recorded May 20 - Jeff DeMark joins. He is a Blue Laker these days, but always an Angel. He hasnt seen that much basketball this year, but as we think you will see, it is in his deepest DNA. We spoke after the Celtics-Cavs series moved to Cleveland, at which point the Cavs won, and the series at 2-1 with the advantage to the Celtics but a sense that maybe the Celtics luck was dimming. We spoke just minutes before the third game of the Warriors-Rockets series, which the Warriors too, and the series at 2-1 with the advantage to the Warriors, and a wind blowing that suggested we might have the same old familiar Warriors-Cavaliers duo contesting the finals. Our discussion veers toward contemplation of some Serious Wierdness involving Kenosha and Racine Catholic school hoopsters, the trains in that neck of the world and we end with a meditation on a whirling Henry Aaron doll.
May 22, 2018 - What makes Dramon tick? Or Stancley Witkoviak tock? This and more becomes fodder for our chatter as Jim Haas and I await the next game in the series, and he responds to J.D.'s barbs of May 20.
May 30, 2018 - For a fourth consecutive year the N.B.A. finals will feature the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. We discuss that and the last gasps of Rockets and Celts. Harken to Rabinically Beared Hardin and 600 some dribbles that made the Rockets goats - Houston ran out of pep, boys. We find time too to talk about the great Cavalier and Angel - Jim Chones. Basketball is life these days.
